1. Wake up early
This may sound redundant, but the earlier you wake up, the more time you’ll have in your day to get things done. Waking up even 30 minutes earlier can allow you to start your day off on the right foot by leaving time for those unaccounted morning mishaps.
2. Make a To Do list
If I swear by one thing, it’s making a To Do list. I make a To Do list for the next day every night before I go to bed. This lets me know what time I need to wake up to accomplish my goals, chores, work, and if I have time to fit in a lunch with friends.
3. Get an agenda book
Get an agenda book, and use it. My personal favorite is my Passion Planner, every week contains a layout with a “This Weeks Focus” “Work/Personal To Do” and a “Today’s Focus”. Major bonus for us college kids, your days can be planned out in 30-minute increments, meaning you can manage your time like a #GirlBoss.
4. Eat healthy
The healthier you eat on a daily basis, the better your body will feel, and the more energy you’ll have to fuel you throughout your day. Plus, when you eat healthy, you’ll radiate happiness from within- and everyone around you will pick up on your good vibes too.
5. Get sweaty
This doesn’t mean you have to lock yourself in a gym 7 days a week, but try to get your body moving 4-5 times each week. See this as an opportunity to take a scenic hike, play tennis with a friend, run the bleachers at your local high school, go on a walk, take a yoga or spin class. Regardless of how you choose to sweat that week, make sure you keep your body active, your mind will thank you.
6. Treat yourself
When you follow through on getting your essay typed up 3 days before it’s due, reward yourself with some quality Netflix time, maybe a facemask, or that new pandora ring you really want. Breaking an old habit, or accomplishing your to-do list for the past few weeks isn’t an easy feat, make sure you give yourself a pat on the back- but remember to stay honest with yourself.
7. Use “Do not disturb”
When you have a whole lot of sh*t to do, use the “Do not disturb” feature on your iPhone for a couple hours, it’ll keep you focused, and you’ll use your time far more effectively than if you were to continue snapchatting Joe from economics class for the next two hours.
8. Find inspiration
Find inspiration in celebrity figures, fitness role models, YouTubers, magazines, friends etc. Regardless of where, or who you find inspiration from, find something that keeps you motivated when you’re feeling totally unmotivated.
9. Read more books
Yeah, read more books. I’m not talking textbooks here, I’m talking about books that expand your knowledge, and let you catch a little break from reality. Personally, I love motivational books such as- You Are A Badass, The life-changing magic of tidying up, and Present over Perfect.
10. Start with a purpose
Find a purpose in life, and start each day reminding yourself what your purpose in life is, and what kind of impact you want to have on the world.
11. Write down your goals
Write down your goals for the long run, not just your goals for next year, but the next five years, or ten years. Where do you want to be? What kind of life do you want to live? Write them down and read them every morning to stay grounded and accountable.
12. Show gratitude
Every night before you go to bed, write down a couple things you’re thankful for. These can be inanimate objects, people, or experiences that brought that extra sparkle into your day. Remember to go to bed with a fresh mind, life isn’t all that bad.
